Your eco tour will begin with a transfer to Jinja, a town situated on the shores of Lake Victoria in Eastern Uganda region. The town is approximately 81 km by road, east of Kampala – Uganda’s capital city. The town once had the second largest economy in Uganda. Jinja was once Uganda’s prime industrial town with many factories and industries managed by Asians and whites, until their expulsion from Uganda by the then reigning president – Idi Amin Dada. The old Asian and colonial architecture is what survived of the once glorious and booming industrial capital of Uganda. The factories, industries and power dam that now exist were put in place by the reigning government.
In spite of the undeniable decline in industrialization and urban development, Jinja still remains a prime tour destination with a notable number of attractions. An eco tour to Jinja is your chance to explore the source of river Nile – Africa’s longest river, and take a cruise on Lake Victoria – Uganda’s largest water body. The other attractions to see include; the famous Sezibwa falls, Mabira forest – a very large rain forest, and the Owen falls dam and the various factories. This 1 day eco tour is your opportunity to encounter Jinja’s prime attractions.
